AnOther 3D Sculpting Study

About This Project

This was my second 3D sculpt project of the semester, and had to be done with a prehistoric animal. I chose a plesiosaurus for it’s cute shape. I would say this project was successful for the research portion–I did a lot of research on sea turtles, seals, walruses and other similar animals, and I would say the painting is a success as well. For the sculpting, I didn’t know you could add more shapes into Mudbox until afterwards, so I had begun to run out of geometry as I got to the head. This entire project was sculpted in Mudbox. If I were to redo this project in the future, I would choose a land animal with some more interesting textures (skin creases and wrinkles) so that I could play around more with textures.

If you like my work, don’t hesitate to reach out! I’d be happy to share my moodboard, research, and talk more about my process.
